Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has expressed relief after being excluded from the list of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors accused by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of opposing the Rainbow Coalition.
Wike recently named three APC governors — Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun — as governors allegedly fighting against the political alliance.
The FCT Minister questioned why the governors would leave their respective states to come to Abuja, while also describing the Rainbow Coalition as a distraction to the APC.
Reacting to the controversy during an interview with TVC, Sule said he was thankful that his name was not included on Wike’s list.
“Thank God I’m not on that list. I feel relieved that I’m not on Wike’s list of APC governors fighting the Rainbow Coalition.”
Sule also argued that Wike’s support for President Bola Tinubu through an alliance is understandable because the FCT Minister is not a member of the APC.
According to the Nasarawa governor, the position of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) may have been misunderstood in the ongoing political dispute surrounding the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Wike is one of the ministers in this administration, and if he says he wants to support President Tinubu from another party, remember he’s not an APC member.”
He added:
“What’s the whole essence of an alliance? I think the Governors’ Forum message was misunderstood.”
The development comes amid growing political discussions over alliances and the 2027 elections, with prominent political figures continuing to debate the implications of the Rainbow Coalition and its relationship with the ruling APC.
