According to Sowore “I did not know Jonathan when I was fighting Yar’Adua’s cabal and I do not know him till today”

Former AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore claimed to have been one of those who campaigned in 2010 to force the late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua to abdicate and give power to his deputy, Goodluck Jonathan, after Yar’Adua’s health seriously declined and he was unable to carry out his duties as president. He maintained that he had never met Jonathan before and that he was unaware of him at the time.

Sowore made this statement during an interview with Arise while speaking on the political crisis in Ondo State following Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s health issues. He said the right thing to be done is for power to be handed to Akeredolu’s deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. He also said that he doesn’t know Aiyedatiwa the same way he never knew Jonathan when he fought for him.

In Sowore’s words: “I did not know Jonathan when I was fighting Yar’Adua’s cabal and I do not know him till today. I have never actually met Jonathan before in person but we all fought for him, and we expect that what is right will be done in Ondo State and by the people of Ondo State and for the people of Ondo State. We deserve to have governance, you can not go and add our governor to that of Oyo State and tell us that he is all right”.
