“After The Supreme Court, The Next Person To Appeal To Is God” According To Chibuzo Okereke

Public affairs commentator Chibuzo Okereke has emphasised that in order to guarantee that justice is served, the justices of the supreme court should consider the petitions submitted by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP). If justice is not served, the parties involved should then ask for forgiveness.

“Under pressure or whatever else the situation presents itself, you must follow the rule,” Chibuzo Okereke said, “because the judiciary is very important to the survival of democracy; and after the case, it is the next one to appeal to, as it is said.

But even the supreme court justices are accountable to God, so it is vital that whatever they are doing is done according to statute, according to the constitution; they don’t create new law per se; they take precedence by interpreting the statute and seeking the constitution’s Legislative Intent.”

Chibuzo Okereke, a former Nigerian Journalist who appeared on Arise Television prime time program, said that the judiciary is the key to the country’s future. He said that, no matter the circumstances, the supreme court’s justices must ensure that justice is delivered in the court’s petitions.

Okereke went further to say that the judges must understand that they are under God, and that if justice is not served, the petitioners or the respondent could bring their complaint to him.
