The Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) former director general, Salihu Lukman, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not be reelected in the 2027 election. The Guardian has reported this information.
During an interactive session with media on Wednesday in Abuja, Lukman hinted that the party’s leaders would soon start rebelling.
He argued that the APC-led administration is not living up to the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians, and if care is not taken, Tinubu might be kicked out of office in 2027.
Lukman, who resigned as the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman North West said:
“And I think I’m worried that our leaders have become very comfortable to imagine that they can do anything and get away with it. We must appeal to our leaders that things are almost getting out of hand at the rate at which we are going under a party that is envisioned to be progressive.
“We are likely going to start witnessing rebellion and if care is not taken by 2027 we will be kicked out of office, which means taking Nigeria back to where it was in 2015. I think we owe our leader the responsibility or President Asiwaju the responsibility to tell him the honest truth.”
Earlier, the APC Chieftain debunked rumours that he is against the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Lukman submitted that contrary to what some people believe, he is not against Tinubu and he has confidence in the ability of the President to do the right thing.
According to him, the APC and Nigeria are lucky to have Tinubu who was part of the pro-democracy struggles against military rule as its leader and there is no doubt the President would be able to reform the party accordingly.
The APC chieftain, however, expressed concerns about the policy direction of the government under Tinubu and the marginalization of the North-central region, claiming that if the current trend is not reversed, former President Muhammadu Buhari may turn out to be more progressive than Tinubu despite the low ratings of the former Nigerian Leader.
