Dr. Yunusa Tanko, a prominent member of the Labour Party and the spokesperson for the party’s presidential campaign council during the 2023 election, has responded to those who have been criticizing Peter Obi for allegedly purchasing 400 SUVs for traditional rulers while he was the governor of Anambra State.
Dr. Tanko revealed during his speech that Peter Obi did, in fact, buy 400 SUVs, adding that the vehicles were all made in Nigeria and that the money kept over a thousand people employed.
Dr. Tanko went on and noted that the dollar and naira ratio then was 1:1.8 and that inflation at that time was single digit. He went on and noted that those who are now criticising Peter Obi are busy padding budget and sharing ₦500 million to themselves and that bandits are now on rampage.
Dr Tanko made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Tuesday afternoon. He wrote: “400 suv was purchased, yes, all vehicles manufactured in Nigeria, this money kept over 1000 people on their jobs. Dollar naira ratio was 1:1.8, inflation at that time was single digit. Now they are busy padding budget and sharing ₦500m to themselves. Bandit on rampage.”
