BREAKING: Before we tamper with political arrangements, Tinubu must serve his full eight years and the Igbo people must run for presidency

The head of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State, Hon. Jonathan Vatsa, a former commissioner for communication, culture, and tourism, has reacted to the Northern group’s demand to discontinue the rotating presidency of the nation.

Jonathan Vatsa stated in an interview with the Sun that the rotating presidency, which has been in place since democracy was restored in 1999, cannot be ended until President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has served out his eight-year term and the Igbo people have had the chance to elect a president of their own.

Recall that a few days ago, a Northern organisation operating under the banner of Arewa New Agenda (ANA) declared their opposition to the presidential rotation, citing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s statement that “it’s my turn” before to the 2023 election.

Vatsa stated in the Sun interview that the arrangement cannot be altered in the middle of the practice because doing so would result in anarchy because no region is suited to rule and no region has a monopoly on power in the nation.

The APC leader declared, “It is not possible to change the arrangements until President Tinubu serves out his two eight-year mandates and the Igbo people take turns holding the presidency.
