Former President of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, Mr. Charles Oputa alias Charlie Boy has lampooned Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka for keeping quiet in the face of biting hunger which has confined many Nigerians to begging to survive.
He described Soyinka as a thoroughbred hypocrite, ethnic and tribal bigot. He said it is good to be properly educated but that if education cannot wash off primitivity and double-speak in a person, it is worthless.
“To prove my point, this man led a protest when Jonathan removed (real) subsidy and petrol price increased from N87 to N120. He called his gang of tribal bigots, Save Nigeria. Again, he called Goodluck Jonathan, a terrorist and his wife “shepopopotamus”.
‘He called him all sorts of names, claiming that Jonathan had almost damaged the economy beyond repairs when $1 was 190 Naira. I am talking about a sitting president.
“Today, a litre of fuel is N700. $1 goes for almost N2000. In all these, Professor , has never uttered a world against the abnormality because he is tribal man and friend is in charge.
“Is this how a learned man should behave?”, he said, describing Soyinka as a a product of dark days when people depended on NTA and Radio Nigeria for information.
According to him, contrary to his expectations, social media has indeed shattered his world of false activism and bizzare information.
