The Rivers State Government has warned teachers in the state against indulging in any forms of examination malpractices.
The government also charged them to improve the quality of their service delivery to the State.
The Rivers State Head of Service, Dr George Nwaeke said this during a courtesy call in his office by the Rivers indigenous Teachers Association.
Dr Nwaeke also charged them to be worthy Ambassadors of good governance in order to reflect the undiluted people oriented leadership of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara
This was contained in a press release signed by the media officer, Office of the Head of service, Dr Eric Godam.
According to the release, the Head of Service also charged them to remain resolute in the discharge of their duties which is basically to build a positive mindset for the younger generation through strategic educational attainments.
Dr. Nwaeke also advised the teachers to take the issue of examination malpractices in school seriously and decried the level of moral decadence in the society.
The Head of service also assured that more programmes would be unfolded in the days ahead by the Governor for the people especially civil servants.
On the proposed issue of the 65 years retirement age for teachers he stated that a memo to that effect has been sent to the Governor for consideration and approval.
Dr Nwaeke urged them to ensure that the association reflects the ethnic diversities of the State as the association is presently more or less an Ikwerre/Emohua/Etche alliance.
The Chairman of the association, Mr Lucky Ndimele had earlier thanked the Head of Service for the courtesy visit and explained that the association’s objective was to promote the programms and policies of the Governor especially in the area of human and infrastructural development.
Mr Ndimele also commended Governor Fubara for appointing seven teachers as Permanent Secretaries in the State, describing it as unprecedented in the history of the State.
He also disclosed plans by the association to carry out a solidarity march from the Isaac Boro Park to the Government House in support of the Governor’s administration.
In a vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Inyingi Brown appreciated the teachers for embarking on the visit and urged them to continue to pray for the Governor to succeed.
