BREAKING: Farotimi “We Yorubas have lived without war with Igbos long before the white man came to these shores”

Afenifere, a Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organization, and lawyer Dele Farotimi recently highlighted the peaceful cohabitation of Igbos and Yorubas for a long time.

In a recent YouTube video posted by Sahara TV, Farotimi stressed that there were no known incidents of violence between the Igbos and Yorubas prior to the introduction of colonial powers. Rather, he saw that progress was spurred by the existence of healthy rivalry.

In Farotimi’s words: “We Yorubas have lived without war with the Igbos long before the white man came to these shores, there is no history of any war between Yorubas and Igbos. Yes, we have competition that is normal and should be encouraged. The strength of Nigeria is found in our diversity when healthy competition is encouraged. That was what took place in the lead-up to Nigeria’s Independence. Hunger does not care about your ethnic nationality, hunger cares nothing for what religion you profess”.
