BREAKING: Governor Makinde Highlights Oyo’s Potential to Rival Lagos Economy

Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde said onGovernor Makinde Highlights Oyo’s Potential to Rival Lagos Economy Friday that the state’s landmass is a goldmine for investors, positioning Oyo to directly challenge neighboring states, particularly Lagos.

The governor boldly made the statement while unveiling a new radio station, Entrepreneur Radio, SEAP FM 89.1, Okeho in the Kajola Local Government Area of the state.

Makinde, represented by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said the increase from 22 radio stations to 55 radio stations within four years of Seyi Makinde administration is proof that the state economy is booming and expanding.

Oyelade emphasized that similar progress extends to real estate and the hospitality sectors.

He said: “If the next administration in the state after 2027 keeps to Makinde’s blueprint, the state will compete with Lagos in 12 years going forward.

“Although Lagos State has a seaport but only 3,577 square kilometres of land whereas, Oyo State’s advantage lies in its dry port and the landmass of 28,454 square kilometres arable land, about eight times larger than the size of Lagos.

“Infrastructures are being expanded, such that strategic roads across the state are being linked together economically.”

Oyelade concluded by saying over 200 kilometers of roads have been inaugurated under Makinde’s leadership, setting a historical precedent for progress in Oyo State.
