The Ogun State police command has detained a prophet for allegedly impregnating a church member’s daughter, according to a Tribune story. The prophet, whose identity was kept secret, claimed that although he was aware that he was seeing the girl, he had no idea how things would pan out.
The prophet said, “I’m surprised myself. We are like a family. I knew that I was having intercourse with the girl, but I didn’t understand how things would turn out. However, I know that there is no one that the devil would not try to bring down. I never planned to marry a second wife, and the girl is like my daughter. I have a wife and four children. I was afraid when she got pregnant. Even when her parents were searching for her, I was afraid to tell them where I kept her. I joined them in the search because I didn’t want my reputation to be damaged, but what I was trying to hide has been exposed.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, who verified the apprehension of the clergyman, stated that after getting the girl pregnant, he transported her to an undisclosed location. She mentioned that he also participated in the futile efforts of the distressed parents to locate the girl until a call from her unveiled the suspect.
