Speaking in the video, the Kaduna governor maintained that his public statements had not been intended to attack El-Rufai. He also rejected suggestions that he harboured personal resentment towards the former governor, emphasising that he had consistently refrained from speaking against him.
According to Sani, misunderstandings about his position may have contributed to perceptions that there is hostility between the two political figures. He urged people to pay close attention to his actual statements rather than draw conclusions about his relationship with El-Rufai based on assumptions.
The governor stated, “Honestly speaking, I have no problem with him. If you listen to me carefully, I have never said anything bad about El-Rufai and I will never speak anything bad about him”.
However, his remarks do not independently establish the full state of their political relationship or settle broader questions surrounding their dealings. They represent the governor’s own account of his position and his insistence that he has not spoken ill of his predecessor.
