BREAKING: Nigerian Billionaire Femi Otedola Plans to Construct Staff Residences at Lagos Law School

Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, chairman of Geregu Power Plc and director of FBN Holdings Plc, has revealed intentions to develop staff quarters on the Nigerian Law School’s Lagos campus. Isa Chiroma, Director General of the Nigerian Law School, made the discovery during Tuesday’s call-to-bar event in Abuja.

Chiroma went on to say, “Femi Otedola has agreed to build staff quarters in the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian law school.” This decision follows Otedola’s recent humanitarian efforts to assist education and strengthen national security.

In addition to Otedola’s commitment, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group, has promised to build projects at law school campuses in Kano and Abuja. Chiroma went on to say, “Alhaji Aliko Dangote has agreed to build a student hostel in Kano Campus of the Nigerian Law School.”

Over the last six months, Otedola has emerged as a significant contributor to Nigeria’s education sector and national security. Recently, he donated N1 billion ($1.13 million) to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund as part of his philanthropic efforts.

This major investment aims to address pressing security concerns in Lagos State by funding a variety of projects, including the deployment of contemporary equipment, law enforcement personnel training, and technology-driven solutions to security challenges.

In October 2023, Otedola donated N750 million ($1 million at the time) to Augustine University in Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, demonstrating his devotion to both national security and education.

The enormous scholarship fund will pay 750 students’ tuition expenses for the whole 2023-2024 academic year, cementing Otedola’s reputation as one of Africa’s most charitable billionaires.

This follows his previous commitment to the development of Augustine University’s Engineering Faculty facility, a N2-billion ($2.53 million at the time) investment aimed at improving engineering teaching at the school.
