BREAKING: Officers responsible for Kaduna airstrike to be sanctioned – Chief of Defence Staff

He urged patience from Nigerians.

General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, has emphasized that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are committed to holding accountable any personnel responsible for the accidental killing of 85 civilians in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Assuring the public during his debut media engagement in Abuja, General Musa stated that severe sanctions would be imposed on individuals found guilty as part of an independent investigation directed by President Bola Tinubu.

Expressing deep regret over the incident, General Musa affirmed the military’s commitment to transparency, stressing that any officer implicated in the event would face consequences.

He urged patience from Nigerians, emphasizing the importance of waiting for the investigation’s findings to ascertain the full details of the incident.

“The incident in Kaduna is highly regrettable, it should not have been. Our mandate is to protect civilians, not to kill, maim or destroy.

“At that particular time, we were in the heat of pursuing some bandits within that general area and unfortunately this happened.

“I assure all Nigerians that the Armed Forces of Nigeria is here for Nigerians and we want Nigerians to take ownership of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,’’ Musa said.
