The controversy surrounding the allocation of funds not tied to any projects in the current year’s budget has sparked widespread concern. Reports from the BBC revealed billions of dollars being incorporated without proper justification, exacerbating tensions within the Senate.
Today, during the plenary session, reports surfaced of certain senators receiving 500 million naira each for projects in their respective senatorial districts, while the Senate President allegedly received an astounding N2.5 billion. This revelation has caused significant consternation among observers.
“Na wa ooo, One man gets 18 billion naira for a constituency project. Is his constituency the only one?” questioned Oseni Rufai via his social media platform, echoing the sentiments of many Nigerians appalled by the apparent discrepancies in fund allocation within the Senate.
