BREAKING: Protesters Storm Streets In Edo Against Shaibu’s

On Thursday, a group of peaceful protesters, comprising women, men, and youths, vehemently opposed the proposed removal of Edo Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu.

These supporters, under the banner of the Peace Movement and PDP Faithful, took to the streets carrying placards with various messages, including “Shaibu is our next governor, no going back,” “No to impeachment of Edo Deputy Governor,” and “We want peace in Edo State.”

The protesters adamantly declared their intention to mobilize members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other residents of Edo State against Governor Godwin Obaseki’s favored gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo, should the Edo lawmakers proceed with the plan to oust Shaibu from office.

Gafata Emmanuel, the spokesperson for the protesters, called upon the Edo lawmakers to prioritize peace and desist from pursuing the impeachment process.

Meanwhile, Ebomhiana Musa, the Chief Press Secretary to Shaibu, assured that efforts were underway to address the situation, with PDP leaders from across Nigeria intervening. These efforts are particularly significant as the campaign season is set to commence on April 24, leading up to the governorship election scheduled for September 21.
