BREAKING: Sacking 20,000 youths without replacement may threaten Osun peace, Group warns Adeleke

A socio-political group, Osun Progressives Youths in United Kingdom (O-SPYUK) has cautioned Governor Ademola Adeleke against sacking over 20,000 youths employed under the administration of Adegboyega Oyetola in various government without replacement.

The Nation recalled that Adeleke upon his inauguration in November 2022 sacked 20,000 workers using Executive Order, stating the at they were illegally employed.

However, O-SPYUK through its coordinator, Tunmise Ajiboye in a statement on Sunday lamented over neglect of the youths in the state under the administration of Adeleke.

He said: “Many youths are relocating from the state because of lack of government programmes to promote potentials.

“We find it worrisome that the current administration in Osun State is not prioritising the welfare of the youths in the state. Over two years into the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, we realise that the government is making empty promises to the youths in the state.

“We have carefully observed the exodus of youths from the state to neighbouring states like Oyo, Ogun and Lagos. It is now looking scary as many youths who are into small-scale businesses are now leaving the state because the current government does not have an engaging programme for them.”

H added: “The sacking of 20,000 youths from the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme(O-YES), teaching jobs among others by the current administration without replacement for over two years now is scary. This is dangerous and their idleness may threaten the peace that we are enjoying in Osun State because an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.

“We want to urge His Excellency, Ademola Adeleke to look into the youth engagement sector and prioritize their welfare, it will go a long way to address issues related to restiveness that may surge social vices in the state.”
