Arewa New Agenda president Senator Ahmad Abubakar Moallayidi urged President Bola Tinubu to treat the North equitably in a statement. He claims that this is because of the North’s numerical superiority, which makes up about 70% of all national government payments. According to SAHARA REPORTERS, the senator disclosed this in a statement he made on Thursday in Adamawa State. He noted that the area has faced several challenges despite having made the largest election-related contribution.
The Arewa New Agenda, according to Senator Moallayidi, aims to make amends for previous transgressions that have cost the North. He maintained that because zoning the presidency is essentially changing the leadership hat, it is not democracy. According to Moallayidi, the North ought to cease pleading with the government for assistance and take control of their own future. He said that Northerners will develop the area by utilising the cattle, agricultural potential, and other natural resources that are deposited in all of the North’s states.
He stated, “Everyone knows that we have a lot of challenges in northern Nigeria. So, even before the election, we were concerned with what it would mean for northern Nigeria. Of course, when the APC was created, everyone backed General Muhammadu Buhari from the north. What does the North stand to gain now that the power has been established.
You are aware that the majority of any government in Nigeria comes from the North, accounting for 70%. Turn-by-turn doesn’t make sense! Turn-by-turn is not democracy, you know; you are simply swapping the mantle of leadership, not practicing democracy. The North must take control of its own future; we will not beg. We’ll take advantage of the agricultural potential, livestock, and other natural resources that exist in all of the Northern states.”
