The Zamfara State Hospital Services Management Board (HSMB) has organised a three-day induction programme for 632 newly recruited nurses and midwives as part of efforts to strengthen the healthcare workforce and improve service delivery.
The programme was designed to familiarise the new health workers with the policies, regulations, professional ethics and operational procedures guiding healthcare delivery in public hospitals.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Mustapha Abdulkadir Marafa, commended Governor Dauda Lawal for his commitment to revitalising the health sector, particularly through the recruitment of additional personnel to address manpower shortages in public health facilities.
Marafa described the recruitment of 632 nurses and midwives as a significant step towards strengthening the existing workforce and improving the quality of healthcare services across the state.
He said the recruitment would help ensure that patients received timely and professional medical attention.
The executive secretary urged the newly recruited health workers to demonstrate dedication, discipline, compassion and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He also advised them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the induction programme to their daily responsibilities.
The three-day programme featured sessions on professional conduct, hospital administration, patient care, infection prevention and control, teamwork and other essential aspects of effective healthcare delivery.
