Deliver on your responsibilities or face dismissal, Wike tells new FCTA permanent secretaries

The newly appointed permanent secretaries of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have been warned by the Minister, Nyesom Wike, to deliver on their responsibilities or face dismissal.

Wike issued this warning following the inauguration of the chairman, commissioners of the FCT Civil Service Commission, the FCT head of service, and the permanent secretaries in Abuja on Monday.

“As a permanent secretary, you are not a political appointee, and you know the implication of that; if you perform below our expectations, there is nothing like querying him following civil service rules.

“We have no time for that. We will just send you packing as a permanent secretary,’’ he said.

Mr Wike added, “I don’t want to hear that files are unduly delayed. We want you to support the government of President Bola Tinubu to realise the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

The minister reiterated the significant effort invested in establishing the FCT Civil Service Commission since the law’s enactment in 2018.

He noted that with President Tinubu’s realization of this aspiration, workers are expected to respond by demonstrating dedication and contributing to the success of his administration.

Furthermore, the minister mentioned that the newly appointed head of service would soon issue posting letters to directors as part of his commitment to reorganize their roles.

Mr Wike also urged the coordinators of the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Abuja Municipal Management Council (AMMC), and Abuja Infrastructure Investment Council (AIIC) to fulfill their responsibilities diligently.
