Governor Fubara Presents 2024 Rivers State Budget To 4-According to Man Assembly

The State House of Assembly was given the state’s N800 billion 2024 budget plans by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Wednesday.

A four-member assembly of parliamentarians heard the governor’s presentation of the budget, according to Channels TV.

Edison Ehie, who led the four-person assembly, was recognized as the legitimate Speaker of the State Assembly on Tuesday by a decision from the Rivers State High Court.

Tagged as the ‘Budget of Renewed Hope, Consolidation and Continuity’, the Rivers State Executive Council had earlier approved the budget estimates.

The budget presentation was done within the premises of the Rivers State government house following the earlier demolition of the State Assembly Complex.

Meanwhile, the Rivers state government has revealed why the State House of Assembly complex was demolished on Wednesday morning.

According to the Vanguard, the government said the renovation of the State House of Assembly Complex was carried out on the advice of consultants, who warned that the building is no longer habitable.

The Rivers state government said the advice to demolish and restructure the building was predicated on the recent fire that engulfed the allowed chambers and the need to strengthen the long existing complex.

The Commissioner for Information, Joe Johnson, stated this on the sidelines of the presentation of the 2024 budget at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

He said the government hopes to give the renovation accelerated hearing.
