If hearing at the tribunal is not concluded before May 29, there should be no inauguration- Bode George

“If hearing at the tribunal is not concluded before May 29, there should be no inauguration,” says Bode George, the former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party. In a recent interview, George expressed his thoughts on the ongoing court case challenging the victory of President-elect Bola Tinubu and why he believes Tinubu should not be sworn in on May 29.

George highlighted the importance of respecting the judicial process and allowing it to reach a conclusion before proceeding with the inauguration. He emphasized that rushing the process would be detrimental to the country and its stability. George pointed out that the court has the responsibility to thoroughly examine all petitions and documentation and deliver a just verdict.

When asked about the possibility of an interim government or suspending the inauguration, George disagreed, suggesting that the national leadership should remain in power until the court case is resolved. He proposed that someone from the National Assembly could be sworn in temporarily to ensure continuity and avoid any constitutional conflicts.

George also expressed his concerns about the current state of Lagos and criticized claims that Tinubu had successfully built the city. He cited examples of neglected infrastructure and the need for effective governance in the state. However, when questioned about his opinion on a potential Tinubu presidency, George responded that whoever assumes the role of president should be prayed for and supported for the benefit of the nation.

In conclusion, George emphasized the need for patience and adherence to the legal process, urging a delay in the inauguration until the court case is concluded. He highlighted the importance of a peaceful transition of power and expressed his hope that the judiciary would fulfill its duty impartially.
