Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has predicted that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, will fail to secure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State and Abuja ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fayose made the statement while reacting to reports that President Bola Tinubu had tipped Wike to coordinate the APC’s campaign structure in Rivers State and the FCT.
According to reports cited by Naija News, the proposed arrangement is intended to leverage Wike’s political network in both locations, despite his continued membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sources who spoke to ThisDay reportedly stated that Wike would retain his PDP membership and would not formally join the APC hierarchy, a position consistent with his previous public statements that he does not belong to the ruling party.
Fayose Says APC Is Confused Ahead of 2027
Reacting to the reported development in a video shared on his verified Facebook page, Isaac Fayose claimed that the APC was already facing confusion ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He argued that the party’s recent political moves would not weaken the momentum or electoral prospects of the Obidient movement and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Fayose further claimed that five governors he had previously referenced remained aligned with his political camp, adding that the group was prepared to challenge the APC in Rivers State and Abuja.
He said:
“The situation is critical for the APC. Early this morning, they weakly announced Wike to head the campaign in Rivers State and Abuja, just after my video. If you can’t convince them, you can confuse them. They are already confused.
“My Obidients, the five governors I earlier said are still with us. They are standing with us. We are going to defeat Wike in Rivers and in Abuja. If they like, let them appoint him and reappoint him.
“He will lose in Abuja. He will lose in Rivers because already we are stronger in Rivers and Abuja than the APC.”
Wike’s Reported Role in the APC Campaign
The reported plan to involve Wike in coordinating the APC’s campaign efforts in Rivers State and the FCT comes amid political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Although Wike remains a PDP member, his political influence in Rivers State and his current position as FCT minister have made him a significant figure in discussions surrounding the upcoming elections.
