The conflict between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Rivers State House of Assembly took a new turn on Friday, as most of the lawmakers passed a new bill without the governor’s approval, according to a report by PUNCH.

The Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission Amendment Law is the new legislation.

24 of the 27 members who were present during Friday’s emergency plenary overrode the governor. These lawmakers are rumored to be loyal to Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
