Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the National Assembly, has reacted to the controversy surrounding Senate President Godswill Akpabio following the release of a purported audio recording.
The senator made her position known in a Facebook post on Monday, September 21, 2026, in which she accused the office of the Senate President of supplying materials to media organisations for publication.
Addressing Akpabio directly, Akpoti-Uduaghan warned that actions allegedly being taken against her could eventually have consequences for those behind them.
In the post, she wrote:
“Dear Godswill Akpabio, Senate President of the Nigerian 10th Assembly… continue. Dear Punch Newspapers, Guardian Nigeria, and others… you may take the envelope and publish whatever Akpabio’s office sends to you. S.P. Akpabio, know that the pits you dig for me, you shall very well fall into.”
Sandra Duru Releases Purported Audio Recording
The senator’s reaction follows fresh allegations by United States-based activist Sandra Duru, popularly known as Prof Mgbeke, who recently shared a nine-minute audio recording on social media.
Duru alleged that Akpabio had engaged her to campaign against Akpoti-Uduaghan. The claim contradicts an earlier allegation she made in 2025, when she reportedly accused the Kogi Central senator of attempting to recruit her to make allegations against the Senate President.
According to Duru, the latest audio contains a male voice she identified as belonging to Akpabio. However, the identity of the voice and the authenticity and context of the recording would require independent verification.
The activist presented the audio as a preview of further disclosures concerning her alleged dealings with the Senate President.
The development has added to the ongoing controversy involving Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan, with the latest claims and counterclaims drawing attention across social media and the Nigerian political space.
