NLC Strike: Kebbi NLC enforces strike in banks, MDAs

The Nigerian Labour Congress’s Kebbi State chapter has started a surveillance campaign to ensure that the state fully complies with the union’s national headquarters’ directive to go on a statewide strike.

In a phone conversation with our correspondent on Tuesday, Murtala Usman, the labor union’s state head, stated that his team has been traveling to determine the degree of compliance.

He clarified that some offices, including MDAs, were unable to get a message from their head office regarding the strike because of the delayed communication of the NLC’s mandate.

“We have to embark on the movement from one office to the other to enforce the strike.

“I am sure you know the information came a bit late, so most of these offices couldn’t receive correspondence from their office about the strike until this morning.

“I can tell you that most of them who just got the information have started to comply with the directive,” he added

The strike comes on the heels of the physical assault that NLC National President Joe Ajaero was subjected to in Imo State two weeks ago.

In a statement released on Monday, the unions ordered employees across the country to stop providing services at midnight, defying a directive from the National Industrial Court.
