Nyesom Wike said you cannot take mandate of one party to another party”

Elder statesman Anabs Sare Igbe of Rivers State has claimed that former Governor Nyesom Wike had previously stated that an individual should not be permitted to hold the elected office they won while representing the PDP if they were elected on the PDP platform and later choose to join the APC.

Igbe expressed his surprise to TVC that Wike, who had previously strongly opposed the transfer of a party’s mandate to another, would now support this kind of party-switching activity. Speaking about the 27 lawmakers in Rivers State who switched from the PDP to the APC, he said this.

In Igbe’s words: “As regarding the movement of 27 lawmakers to APC, my comment is very simple. Their leader, Nyesom Wike said you can not take the mandate of one party to another party. He has initiated court actions in the past for those who left their party to another party. So I am surprised that the man who has been saying you can not leave your party to another party will encourage people to leave their party and go to another party. And to make things worse, here was a man who said APC is cancer and PDP is malaria, I don’t know what has made him see something good in APC now that he will encourage the lawmakers to move”.
