Reps wade into Enugu community land dispute, pledge to restore orderliness

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has intervened in the land dispute between the Obeagu and Amechi-Uwani Awkunanaw communities in Enugu State.

This conflict involves the developers of Private Estates International West Africa Limited (PEIWA) in Enugu South local council.

Chairman of the committee, Rep. Mike Etaba, issued a statement on Sunday in Abuja, reassuring the conflicting parties that justice would prevail.

Mr Etaba pledged to investigate whether any Enugu State court had previously ruled on the matter. His remarks were followed by assertions made by the leaders and families of Amechi Uwani and Obeagu Awkunanaw in Enugu South LGA, Enugu State.
