Sen Yar’adua ‘My Brother Transferred Power To Former Pres. Goodluck Jonathan, He Wrote A Letter’

Before departing for Saudi Arabia for medical treatment, former President Goodluck Jonathan allegedly received power transfers from his brother, the late President Musa Yar’adua, according to Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Army. He disclosed that on December 20, 2009, he had come across allegations claiming that the late President had neglected to hand over power.

He made clear how disturbed he was by this news, especially considering his personal friendship with the late President. He noted that the family had declined to provide clarification in the media until he learned that his brother had actually written a letter to effect the transfer of power. He even went so far as to urge the media to do investigative reporting prior to releasing certain material.

He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”This is something that gets me emotional. The President of blessed memory, I was one of those who nursed him throughout his sojourn in Saudi Arabia. And while I was there, every morning we goggle the newspaper in Nigeria to find out what is happening. On one of such occasion around December 20, 2009, I saw the issues coming up about him not transferring power.

I was very disturbed because I knew the late President, I grew under him. And I can tell you in our family, I was the closest to him. So I got disturbed knowing the kind of person that he is, that he left the country without transferring power to the former President. And eventually, my findings showed that my brother transferred power to former President Goodluck Jonathan, he wrote a letter. But of course, it wasn’t in my purview to come out to the press to say something like that. But definitely, he did.”.
