Following the Supreme Court’s confirmation of President Tinubu’s election victory on Thursday, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen urged opposition parties to work with the President to propel Nigeria forward to new heights.

He thanked God and all well-meaning Nigerians who prayed for the historic victory. “After this pronouncement, we have no excuse, but to go back to business as usual, to go back and reset our agenda and see what we can be able to do for the Nigerian people for the next three and a half or four years,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, interpreted the Supremem court’s judgement as a reaffirmation of the mandate given to Tinubu by the Nigeria people.

Akume pointed out that some aggrieved individuals had taken their grievances to court for unjust reasons. He went on to say that the Supreme Court’s verdict confirms that President Tinubu’s mandate was freely given.

He expressed his desire for stability and lack of distractions in the country, praising President Tinubu for his excellent start and his commitment to the people’s welfare.

Akume concluded by saying, “The choices he’s making are tough but at the end of the day, they will make for a better tomorrow, so we are very happy on what has happened today. Nigerians are celebrating.”
