In an interview with The Punch, Chief Sanya Atofarati, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) zonal publicity secretary for the South-West geographical zone, discussed party activities. In addition, he claimed that in order for the party to get back on track, every required reconciliation was being made.
In evaluating the two governors of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West geopolitical zone, Atofarati stated that there is currently no government in the region like that of the two PDP governors. This was in response to criticism from some quarters that they are not making any effort to set themselves apart from the governors of the All Progressives Congress, particularly in terms of ending hunger.
He said, “Let us take Oyo State, for example, Governor Makinde has done extremely well. Even those who were opposed to his emergence in the first term,are now the ones working together with him because they have seen what he has done in terms of infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, security, and what have you.”
Further talking, he said, “We are compelled to say that we will mobilise ourselves to prevail on Makinde particularly to contest the presidential election in 2027. If he has achieved this much within these few years, he has barely spent five years in office.”
