Why Nigerians Should Be Grateful To Former President Muhammadu Buhari Is Revealed By Bishop Matthew Kukah

The head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Bishop Matthew Kukah, has responded to the circumstances surrounding the present economic situation in Nigeria and the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. He thanked Buhari and his former Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, for their leadership of the nation during their tenure in the speech.

The Bishop began by suggesting that a special form of gratitude should be extended to former President Buhari. This acknowledgment was in response to the state of the nation prior to Buhari’s handing over of power to the present administration. It’s evident that Bishop Kukah wanted to highlight the significance of Buhari’s leadership during his tenure. Bishop Kukah spoke in detail about his efforts in reaching out to the former Attorney General, Abubakar Malami. He emphasized the deserving nature of appreciation for both Buhari and Malami. Notably, he praised their resilience and the manner in which they steered the nation during their time in office. One specific reference made by Bishop Kukah was regarding a financial incident. He said that Goodluck Jonathan had left behind an 800 million-dollar bill for the nation to settle. However, President Buhari refused to accept this burden, which Bishop Kukah saw as an admirable act of fiscal responsibility.

In his words; “I think we should thank former president Muhammad Buhari in a very special way. Yesterday I spent quite a lot of time calling the former Attorney General; they deserve appreciation. As you know, Goodluck Jonathan handed over an 800 million-dollar bill to be settled, and President Buhari said, No, I think their resilience has brought us to where we are. I would like to say that we owe them gratitude”.
