Abure Goes Tough After Winning Second Term, Declares NLC, TUC Posts In LP

Following his re-election as the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP) during the party’s national convention held in Nnewi, Anambra State, Mr. Julius Abure announced the vacancies for the positions of deputy national chairmen reserved for the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), respectively.

The convention granted authority to the National Working Committee (NWC) to address the existing vacancies within the NWC and the National Executive Committee (NEC).

In a communique jointly signed by Abure and Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the National Secretary, issued at the conclusion of the convention, it was affirmed that considering the track record of the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, before, during, and after the 2023 general election, the party recommended that the 2027 presidential ticket be exclusively reserved for him.

Additionally, the communique stated that the convention conducted a review of the ongoing progress and performance of Dr. Alex Otti, the party’s governor in Abia State, expressing confidence in his leadership and recommending that the 2027 gubernatorial ticket for Abia State also be reserved for him.
