BREAKING: Abia: We Saw The Commissioning Of An IPP Which Is Now Powering Almost A Whole State

Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a human rights attorney, has bemoaned the enormous sums of money Nigerians are spending on electricity generation for their homes, workplaces, places of worship, banks, and government buildings. He claimed that it would be challenging for the economy to flourish if the power problem was not resolved.

Adegboruwa stated that it is feasible to have a consistent power supply throughout the nation in an interview with Channels Television, citing the recent opening of the Geometric Power Plant in Aba, Abia State. He attributed the nation’s unreliable power supply to the government’s lack of resolve to guarantee a steady supply of electricity.

According to the report which was also carried by Sahara Reporters, he said, “This has been done in Abia State. Recently, we saw the commissioning of an independent Power Plant which is now powering almost a whole state. So it is possible really to have a power supply in Nigeria except for the government that doesn’t have the capacity or willpower to do that. You talk about road networks – mostly travelling on the road is difficult because the roads are bad.”

He also talked about the area of infrastructure, saying that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has not done anything significant in that area.

Speaking further, he said that a lot of people are living in fear because of insecurity challenges in the country. He said that the government has not been able to do more than the previous administration in terms of securing the lives and properties of the citizens.
