BREAKING: I was going to Wales when I did my A-levels. I was impressed by his simplicity; other Governors were flying first class, he was in business

Bello El-Rufai, the son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has given his first thoughts on Peter Obi, whom he happened to be traveling on the same plane with that day.

El-Rufai revealed in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye that, when he was barely eighteen years old, he was on the same flight with Peter Obi. He claimed that upon observing Peter Obi sitting in business class on the aircraft, he was struck by the man’s simplicity, even though the other governors were traveling first class.

In his words, he said, “I have flown next to Governor Peter Obi, probably, he wouldn’t remember. I was going to Wales when I did my A-levels. I was impressed by his simplicity; other Governors were flying first class, (but) he was in business. Don’t ask me why I was in business. I was there and I picked his brain. I was a kid, probably 18. I don’t think he is a bad man. That is not what I am saying.”

Addition, he stated that, in contrast to the belief of many “Obidients”, he doesn’t think one individual can solve Nigeria’s issues. He said he doesn’t have total confidence that even his father can change the trajectory in the power sector, if appointed minister, due to entrenched decay.

“I don’t believe in messiahs. We followed President Buhari thinking he could solve the problem. My issue with what is going on in Labour Party is that they believe one person can solve this problem. It doesn’t work that way, Seun. This is a collective effort.. I spoke earlier that if my father had become the Minister of Power, Nigeria would gain. I take that back. I am sure? This is decay for 30 years.”
