BREAKING: Nasarawa Assembly moves to address illegal taxation

The Nasarawa House of Assembly disclosed that implementing and managing revenue laws effectively will tackle illegal and duplicate taxation within the state.

Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House, made this assertion following discussions on a bill aimed at amending, repealing, and re-enacting the Nasarawa State Harmonisation and Administration of Revenue Law during the plenary session on Tuesday in Lafia.

The speaker highlighted that once enacted, the bill would reduce instances of multiple tax assessments and enhance the state’s internally generated revenue.

He also mentioned that if the bill is approved and signed into law by Governor Abdullahi Sule, it would address inconsistencies associated with revenue collection in the state.

Mr Jatau praised Mr Sule for introducing the bill and applauded the members of the House for their constructive inputs towards it.

Prior to this, Suleiman Yakubu, the House Majority Leader, proposed a motion for the adoption of the committee report, which was supported by Luka Iliya, the Minority Leader.
