BREAKING: Tinubu Must Do His 8 Years And Igbo Must Test Presidency Before We Tamper With That Political Arrangement-According to Vatsa

Hon. Jonathan Vatsa, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State and a former commissioner for information, culture, and tourism, has addressed the Northern group’s demand to terminate the nation’s rotating presidency.

Jonathan Vatsa stated in an interview with the Sun that the rotating presidency, which has been in place since democracy was restored in 1999, cannot be abandoned until President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has served his entire eight-year term and the Igbo people have had a chance to elect a president of their own.

It should be recalled that a few days ago a Northern group under the umbrella of Arewa New Agenda (ANA) had taken a stance against the rotation of presidency, making reference to the “It is my turn” comment which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made ahead of the 2023 election.

During the interview with the Sun, Vatsa said that the arrangement cannot be changed in the middle of the practice, saying that it would lead to anarchy because no single region has the monopoly of power in the country, and that no region is born to rule.

The APC chieftain said, “The arrangements cannot be tampered with until President Tinubu completes his two terms of eight years and the Igbos have their turn as President, then we can come to the round table and discuss what we want as a country.

“You can’t just change the goalpost at the middle of the game, it will create anarchy because no region has the monopoly of power, no region is born to rule.”

Speaking further, Vatsa said, “With this their call, President Bola Tinubu must do his term of eight years, and the Igbo man must test presidency before we can tamper with that political arrangement.”
