Court remands ex-CBN Gov, Emefiele in Kuje Prison

Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, has ruled that Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, will be held in Kuje prison until November 22.

On this date, the court will decide whether or not to grant him bail.

Emefiele’s lawyer, Mathew Burkaa SAN, requested bail, while Rotimi Oyedepo opposed it on behalf of the Federal Government.

After hearing arguments from both sides, Judge Muazu stated that he needed time to review the authorities and evidence presented by Emefiele in support of his bail request.

At present, officials from the Kuje prison have been informed and will transport him there.
