Fubara’s Fate Uncertain As Appeal Court Delivers Judgment

The Lagos State Appeal Court is set to deliver judgment today on the governorship election petition lodged by Patrick Tonye-Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Rivers State.

The petition is against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The judgment comes just two weeks after both parties presented and adopted their final written addresses. Tonye-Cole seeks a court directive instructing INEC to declare him the winner of the March governorship election in Rivers.

His claim asserts that Fubara continued signing documents as the Accountant-General of the State even after being nominated as the PDP’s governorship candidate. Additionally, Tonye-Cole alleges various irregularities in the election.
