The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the results of the Sakwa State Constituency bye-election in Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State, with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Hon. Adamu Yakubu, emerging victorious.
The bye-election was conducted on Saturday, September 19, 2026, to fill a vacant seat in the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
Yakubu secured 8,515 votes to defeat candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
The APC candidate came second with 3,771 votes, while the PDP polled 2,076 votes. The PRP recorded 727 votes.
The results were announced by the Returning Officer, Professor Muhammad Sabo of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, following the collation of results from the various polling units within the constituency.
After confirming that Yakubu had obtained the highest number of votes cast, Professor Sabo declared him duly elected as the representative of the Sakwa State Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
The Sakwa election was one of two State House of Assembly bye-elections conducted in Bauchi State on Saturday. The other election took place in the Disina State Constituency of Shira Local Government Area, following vacancies in the state legislature.
The declaration of the results marks the conclusion of the electoral process in Sakwa, with the APM candidate securing the seat based on the votes announced by INEC.
