The chief of staff of the army accused youth in the Okuama community of removing vital body parts from 17 dead soldiers

According to the Daily Post, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, has charged that young people in the Okuama town in Delta State have taken important body parts from the 17 troops who died.

Lagbaja gave his remarks after the 17 troops who died on March 4, 2023, were buried. The soldiers were on a legal peacekeeping assignment in the Okuama community, where they were involved in a protracted property dispute.

Lagbaja who expressed his moody emotion said it took his officers complete 72 hours to recover some vital organs of the slain soldiers that were scattered all over the Okuama community by the youths.

He described the actions of the youths as “barbaric attack” against the soldiers. He added that a compulsion has been placed for the soldiers to recover “missing arms, ammunition, other equipment and body parts”

He also argued that the Nigerian Army will not be deterred by setbacks such as that of Okuama community.

He vowed to bring the perpetrators to book and recover all arms taken from the murdered troops.
