The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has pledged to deliver 1.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The pledge followed Adeleke’s appointment as the Osun State Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, alongside Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who was named the party’s campaign coordinator in his state.
The revised presidential campaign council was unveiled on Tuesday as political parties and their leaders intensified preparations for the 2027 general election.
TICC, the campaign organisation associated with the Accord Party, said it would mobilise its structures across Osun State to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
In a statement on Tuesday, Olalere Oyewumi, TICC director-general, described Adeleke’s appointment as well deserved and said the governor would justify the confidence placed in him by the president.
“The Imole Campaign Council welcomes the appointment of Governor Adeleke as State Coordinator of PBAT Presidential Campaign Council in Osun,” the statement said.
Oyewumi added that the council was confident of delivering on its commitment to secure victory for Tinubu in the state.
“We promise the President, just like Governor Adeleke had said sometimes ago, that we will deliver 1.5 million votes to ensure his victory in the coming Presidential election,” he said.
The campaign council also urged Osun residents to continue supporting Adeleke, linking the governor’s political standing to support for Tinubu.
“Our message to the people of Osun State is to keep trusting and supporting Governor Adeleke as he continues to deliver on his campaign promises. A vote for President Tinubu is a support for Governor Adeleke,” Oyewumi added.
TICC Backs Adeleke’s Appointment Despite Previous Election Rivalry
The pledge comes against the backdrop of the August 15 governorship election in Osun, in which Adeleke defeated Bola Oyebamiji, the APC candidate, by more than 60,000 votes, according to the report.
Despite the rivalry between Adeleke and the APC in the governorship contest, his campaign council has now pledged to mobilise support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
The commitment places Adeleke’s political structure at the centre of efforts to boost the president’s electoral prospects in Osun ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
However, the pledged 1.5 million votes remain a campaign target rather than a confirmed electoral outcome.
APGA Says Soludo’s Appointment Reflects Tinubu Partnership
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has welcomed Soludo’s appointment as Anambra State Coordinator of Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign council.
Ejimofor Opera, APGA’s national publicity secretary, said the appointment reflected Soludo’s leadership and his advocacy for closer cooperation between Anambra State and the federal government.
In a separate statement, Opera congratulated the Anambra governor, describing his inclusion in the campaign council as recognition of his commitment to progressive ideals.
“This appointment is a testament to Governor Soludo’s exemplary leadership, his uncommon commitment to progressive ideals, and his consistent advocacy for a strategic partnership between APGA and the Federal Government for the collective good of Ndi Anambra and Ndigbo at large,” the statement said.
Opera also said APGA had formally adopted Tinubu as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
According to him, the party reached the decision at its National Executive Committee meeting and reiterated its position during Tinubu’s working visit to Anambra on May 8, 2025.
“At our National Executive Committee meeting and during Mr President’s working visit to Anambra on May 8, 2025, we formally adopted President Bola Tinubu as our consensus Presidential Candidate for the 2027 general election. In line with this resolution, APGA did not field a presidential candidate for the 2027 election,” Opera said.
He argued that APGA and the ruling party shared ideological similarities, citing Soludo’s mantra, “Progressives are Working Together.”
APGA Highlights Federal Projects, Economic Cooperation
The APGA spokesperson said the relationship between the Anambra government and the federal government had produced benefits, including collaboration on critical infrastructure projects and economic development initiatives.
He maintained that APGA remained firmly in control of Anambra’s political structure, outlining the party’s preferred arrangement for the 2027 elections.
“Tinubu for President, APGA for senate, house of representatives, and state house of assembly,” Opera said.
He added that Soludo would use his intellectual depth, organisational capacity and acceptance across the South-East to mobilise support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The appointments of Adeleke and Soludo highlight efforts to build broader political support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election, with the two governors expected to coordinate campaign activities in their respective states.
While TICC has set a target of 1.5 million votes in Osun, APGA has reaffirmed its support for Tinubu’s presidential bid, signalling the importance of cross-party alliances in the emerging 2027 political landscape.
