Imole Campaign Council Targets 1.5 Million Votes for Tinubu in 2027, Backs Adeleke’s Appointment

The Imole Campaign Council has pledged to deliver 1.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election following the appointment of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as the president’s campaign coordinator in the state.

The council also declared that the Accord Party structure in Osun State would support Tinubu’s re-election bid despite Adeleke’s membership of the opposition party.

The council’s Director General, Senator Olalere Oyewumi, made the pledge in a statement on Tuesday while welcoming Adeleke’s inclusion in the revised All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council list.

Other prominent politicians named in the revised list include Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori; and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Imole Council Backs Adeleke’s Appointment

Oyewumi described Adeleke’s appointment as well-deserved and expressed confidence that the governor would secure Osun State for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

According to him, the council is committed to delivering the promised votes to strengthen the president’s chances of winning a second term.

“The Imole Campaign Council welcomes the appointment of Governor Adeleke as State Coordinator of the PBAT Presidential Campaign Council in Osun.

“The appointment is a well-deserved one. We assure the President that his confidence in the ability of Governor Adeleke to deliver Osun in the Presidential election will not be misplaced.

“We promise the President, just like Governor Adeleke said sometimes ago, that we will deliver 1.5 million votes to ensure his victory in the coming Presidential election,” Oyewumi said.

The council also called on Osun residents to support Adeleke, arguing that backing Tinubu’s re-election would equally amount to supporting the governor.

“A vote for President Tinubu is a support for Governor Adeleke,” the council stated.

Osun APC Warns Against Parallel Campaign Structures

Adeleke’s appointment comes amid disagreements within the Osun APC over the leadership and organisation of Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the state.

On Monday, the state chapter of the APC cautioned against the establishment of parallel campaign structures, insisting that all activities aimed at securing Tinubu’s victory must operate under the party’s leadership.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting at the APC secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital, party chairman Tajudeen Lawal said the party had established an effective campaign committee to coordinate its activities.

Lawal disclosed that party stakeholders had agreed to work collectively through a presidential campaign committee scheduled for inauguration on Tuesday.

He added that the state working committee would collaborate with Agba Osun, the party’s highest ruling body in the state, to achieve Tinubu’s re-election.

The APC chairman warned individuals and groups against operating independent campaign structures, urging anyone interested in supporting the president to work through the party’s recognised leadership.

Adeleke’s Appointment Sparks Political Tension

The decision to appoint Adeleke as Tinubu’s campaign coordinator has reportedly unsettled some APC stakeholders who expected Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and the party’s leader in Osun, to be named to the position.

The development has raised questions about how the different political interests supporting Tinubu’s re-election will work together in the state.

While the Imole Campaign Council has expressed confidence in Adeleke’s ability to mobilise voters, the Osun APC leadership has maintained that campaign activities must remain under the party’s established structure.

Lawal also urged APC members and supporters to move beyond the party’s defeat in the August 15, 2026, governorship election and concentrate on Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

Adeleke won the governorship election with 511,067 votes, defeating the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes.

With the 2027 presidential election approaching, the competing political interests in Osun State face the challenge of coordinating their efforts as Tinubu’s re-election campaign takes shape.
