NDC to Unveil National Campaign Council at October 26 NEC Meeting in Abuja

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that its 3rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting will hold on Monday, October 26, 2026, in Abuja.

The opposition party disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director.

According to the statement, the meeting will take place at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, opposite A-Class Park, Maitama, Abuja, at 10:00 a.m.

NDC to Present Statement of Account

The party said a major highlight of the NEC meeting would be the release and presentation of its Statement of Account by the National Treasurer.

Director explained that the move was part of the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of its finances.

He challenged other political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to adopt similar standards of financial openness.

“This is in deference to our avowed commitment to the principles of transparency and accountability. In this regard, we challenge other political parties, especially the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to emulate this level of openness and transparency in the management of their finances,” he said.

The NDC spokesperson added that the party intended to conduct its political activities differently, stressing that it was no longer business as usual.

NDC Explains Free Expression of Interest Forms

Director also disclosed that the party’s finances would have been stronger if more of its candidates had been able to pay for their Expression of Interest forms.

According to him, approximately 80 per cent of the party’s candidates could not afford the forms because of the economic difficulties facing the country.

He attributed the situation to poverty, hunger and deprivation, which he blamed on the APC-led administration’s economic policies.

The NDC spokesperson said the party consequently issued Expression of Interest forms to the affected candidates free of charge.

His remarks come amid ongoing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Party to Unveil National Campaign Council

The NDC will also use the NEC meeting to unveil its National Campaign Council (NCC), according to the statement.

Director said the council would cover the party’s campaigns for the presidential election, National Assembly elections, governorship elections and State Houses of Assembly elections.

The party also announced that its candidates would receive Certificates of Return for their respective offices during the event.

The NDC described itself as ready to offer Nigerians what it called altruistic leadership and expressed confidence in its preparations for the forthcoming electoral contests.

“A New Nigeria is Possible. We can do it!” the statement added.
