Rufai Oseni Slams Tinubu’s Kaduna Campaign Speech, Faults President’s Aides

Arise Television Morning Show anchor, Rufai Oseni, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s speech at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Kaduna State, describing it as one of the worst campaign speeches he has ever heard.

Oseni expressed sympathy for the president, blaming his aides and campaign team for allegedly failing to prepare him adequately for his first campaign outing ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, the broadcaster argued that Tinubu should not have campaigned in Kaduna if he was going to deliver what he described as an embarrassing speech.

“I think that was the worst campaign speech I’ve ever heard in my life by President Tinubu,” Oseni said.

He added that the president would have been better off avoiding the campaign appearance rather than delivering a speech that, in his assessment, lacked clarity and coherence.

Oseni Faults Tinubu’s Campaign Team

The broadcaster questioned the preparedness of members of Tinubu’s campaign council, arguing that they should have equipped the president with a concise speech highlighting his administration’s achievements and explaining its policies to Nigerians.

According to Oseni, a well-prepared five-minute speech would have enabled Tinubu to present a clearer defence of his government’s record after nearly four years in office.

He expressed surprise that the president’s aides allowed him to deliver what he described as a disjointed and uncoordinated speech at a critical point in his re-election campaign.

“What is wrong with you guys? Is this how much you are so concerned about just collecting money from him?” he asked.

Oseni maintained that the president’s campaign team had a responsibility to ensure that his message was properly structured and communicated effectively to Nigerians.

Broadcaster Questions Tinubu’s Remarks on Petrol Subsidy

Oseni also criticised Tinubu’s comments on petrol subsidy removal and his attempt to blame the opposition for the poverty and hunger confronting Nigerians.

The broadcaster argued that the speech failed to provide a convincing explanation of the administration’s policies or effectively address the economic challenges facing citizens.

He further faulted the lack of structure, coherence and a clear ideological direction in the president’s remarks, saying the campaign appearance presented an opportunity for Tinubu to defend his record in office.

“You just allow a man like that to ad lib at his inaugural campaign speech after four years in office, where he needs to make a great defence, what did you guys do to him?” Oseni said.

He insisted that the president’s aides had failed him by allowing him to deliver the speech without adequate preparation.

“I feel for President Tinubu this morning,” the Arise Television presenter added.

Tinubu Begins Campaign Activities Ahead of 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress has commenced campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Tinubu seeking another term as president.

The Kaduna rally marks part of the party’s political mobilisation as it prepares for the next presidential election.

Oseni’s criticism focused on the president’s campaign presentation and the role of his aides in preparing him to communicate his administration’s policies and achievements to voters.

His remarks have drawn attention to the importance of campaign messaging, speech preparation and the need for political candidates to clearly explain their records and policy positions to the electorate.
